Compressed-oxygen safety

Keep the cylinder upright and secured in a compatible D-type trolley or stand at all times.

Never leave the cylinder free-standing. Do not drag it, roll it on its side, drop it or attempt to carry it manually.

Protect the valve from impact. Never lift or move the cylinder by its valve, cap, regulator or flowmeter.

Keep the cylinder away from smoking, flames, sparks, cooking equipment, heaters and other heat sources.

Never apply oil, grease, petroleum jelly or oil-based products to the valve, regulator, flowmeter or oxygen fittings.

Store and use the cylinder in a ventilated area. Do not place it in a closed cupboard or unventilated enclosure.

Use only a compatible medical-oxygen regulator and flowmeter. Never force incompatible fittings together.

Open the valve slowly while standing to the side of the regulator.

Close the cylinder valve when oxygen is not being used.

Do not attempt to refill the cylinder or transfer oxygen between cylinders at home.

Arrange replacement or refill before the contents gauge reaches the 20-bar reserve.

When Do You Need This?

Primary backup for continuous oxygen therapy (concentrator patients); patients in areas with frequent or extended power cuts; any clinical situation where uninterrupted oxygen supply is critical.

*Product images are for representational purposes only; actual equipment supplied may vary.*

Use the oxygen flow rate prescribed by the treating clinician. Compare our home oxygen-support range, including the Oxygen Cylinder Refilling and Oxygen Cylinder Trolley (Large Cylinder Compatible), when planning the primary device or a backup arrangement.

Before choosing equipment, read our oxygen cylinder versus concentrator guide.

Oxygen Cylinder 47L

A large-capacity D-type medical oxygen cylinder for prescribed home oxygen use, institutional use and extended backup oxygen planning.

The “47L” designation refers to the cylinder’s internal water capacity—not the quantity of usable oxygen. At a nominal full pressure of 150 bar, a standard 47-litre cylinder holds approximately 7,000 litres of oxygen at atmospheric pressure.

Using a 20-bar planning reserve, approximately 6,110 litres are available for planned use. At 2 LPM, this provides an estimated planning duration of approximately 50 hours 55 minutes—not 18–20 hours.

Actual duration is affected by starting pressure, prescribed flow, regulator performance, leakage and the reserve pressure maintained for safe replacement planning.

Use medical oxygen only at the flow rate and duration prescribed by the treating clinician.

Trolley shown for safe positioning; sold or rented separately.
